Millie Bobby Brown explains why fans may never learn her daughter’s name
Millie Bobby Brown is opening up about her life as a mother for the first time.
The 21-year-old “Stranger Things” actress shared a glimpse at what family life is like since welcoming her first baby with husband Jake Bongiovi via adoption in an interview with British Vogue, published Nov. 5.
“Our days are filled with lots of cuddles and laughter and love. It’s just endless joy,” she told the outlet.
“We are 50-50 on everything,” she added of how she and her husband split parenting responsibilities. “That’s why I’m so grateful to have partnered with him in this life – he is just the most amazing dad.”
Brown and Bongiovi initially sparked dating rumors in June 2021 and went Instagram official later that year, according to People. Brown was 17 at the time, while Bongiovi was 19.
The couple got engaged in April 2023, tied the knot one year later, and announced the addition of their baby girl via adoption on Aug. 21.
“I really want a big family – I’m one of four; he’s one of four,” Brown told British Vogue . “I don’t see having your own child, you know, as really any different (than) adopting.”
As for how motherhood has changed her, Brown added: “Perspective is a huge thing. The smaller things in life are so much more precious.”
Brown stresses the importance of a private family life
Elsewhere in her interview, Brown opened up about her decision to keep her baby’s name private.
The “Enola Holmes” actress revealed that she has no plans to disclose the baby’s name until “she’s ready to decide for herself” — and that goes for the baby’s personality, too.
“For me, it’s really important to protect her and her story until she’s old enough to potentially one day share it herself,” she told the outlet. “It’s not my place to purposefully put her in the spotlight unwillingly.
“If she chooses to share her personality one day with the world, like I did when I was young, that’s something we’d support. But right now, as she’s so little,” she added. “It’s our job to protect her from that.”
Millie Bobby Brown’s baby update came one day before she revealed who her baby’s godfather was.
“Sadie is very, very maternal ... but ... Noah is her godfather,” Brown said of her “Stranger Things” co-stars Sadie Sink and Noah Schnapp at the Nov. 6 premiere of the show’s final season.
“They all turn into the most gooey, soft versions of themselves when their baby voice comes out when they’re around her,” she added.
Brown’s update also comes two weeks after her father-in-law Jon Bon Jovi gushed over his new role as a grandfather.
“Immediately you fall in love,” Bon Jovi said of his granddaughter.
“You know, when we met Jake and Millie’s daughter, it was just immediate. You’re like, ‘That’s my granddaughter,’” he continued.
