Brokenhearted cat has been waiting months to be noticed after return to shelter
A young cat with a shattered soul is looking for a new home where she can show off her gentle personality in Indiana.
At only 3 years old, a little cat has been bounced around from shelter to home once, but even that’s too much for one still so young.
“Meet Lady Penny: A beautiful tabby with a broken heart,” the Humane Society for Hamilton County in Fishers said in a Nov. 4 Facebook post.
“At just 6 pounds, this tiny tabby has been waiting over 150 days for someone to notice her, someone who sees the beauty in quiet souls.”
Lady Penny once had a family and home she could call her own, but life circumstances took their toll and the little one found herself back at the shelter.
“She once knew what it felt like to belong. Adopted as a kitten, she spent three years in a loving home before her humans could no longer keep her. Her world fell apart that day, and she’s been trying to put her heart back together ever since,” the shelter said.
“Like her name suggests, Lady Penny carries herself with a gentle grace. She’ll wait hopefully for your approach, but once you open up to her, she’ll shower you with all her affection; soft headbutts, slow blinks, and cuddles that melt the heart.”
Shyness, along with kennel stress, causes people not to fully see her for the treasure she truly is, staff members say.
“At the shelter, she tries to stay brave, even as people walk past her kennel, never realizing that this little 6-pound wallflower is just waiting for one chance to bloom. All she needs a place where her sweetness can shine in a calm, peaceful home,” the shelter said.
