A shelter in Ohio is on a mission to find a loving home for one of their favorite residents: a special dog named Tony Hawk.

A pup who has been with Cincinnati Animal CARE shelter for over four years.

“Tony was born differently-abled. Born with a spinal deformity, he has limited use of his back legs and uses a part-time wheelchair,” the shelter says on their website about the little guy.

“While he doesn’t need to be in a wheelchair all the time, there are specific instances where the wheelchair use really helps him. Because he was born with a spinal deformity, he doesn’t have full use of his back legs (unless he hits top speed while running!) While out on the town or cruising on concrete, he needs wheels to protect his back legs.”

Because he has been at the shelter for such a long time, he’s formed bonds with staff and volunteers, who want to make sure Tony is given the world.

“Tony Hawk has touched so many hearts during his time with us. We asked some of his friends to share what makes him so special — because once you meet him, you’ll understand,” the shelter said in an Oct. 30 Facebook post that includes a video of people gushing over the sweet dog.

“I’ve known Tony for two, three years now,” one person said. “And one word that comes to mind when I think of Tony is ‘happy.’ He is literally the happiest dog I have ever met. Every time he sees you, it’s like he hasn’t seen you in years.”

Another pointed out that Tony lets nothing stop him, including his back legs.

“He was going to be a dog no matter what,” another said.
