A box filled with puppies was discovered near an Ohio shelter, and now, thanks to some love and care, they’re ready to face the next chapter of their lives.

The Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center in Columbus was shocked to learn that someone had fortunately come upon the terrified pups just in time, KENS5 reported.

“We had a concerned citizen. They were working on apartment buildings nearby and as they were going to drop some supplies off in the dumpster, they stumbled across a box of these wonderful puppies dumped in the dumpster,” the shelter’s assistant director Dwayne Young told KENS5.

Now, the puppies are all cleaned up and on the hunt for homes.

“5 little miracles rescued from a dumpster, today, they’re healthy, happy, and ready to meet their new families!” the shelter said in an Oct. 24 Facebook post.

The little fluff balls are seen in a posted video, exploring, sniffing around and cuddling with each other. They’re a far cry from what was first discovered, when “they were thrown out with the garbage.”

“They were unkept and dirty and had fleas and things on them,” Young told KENS5.

The shelter is encouraging people call animal shelters for help if you’re struggling with pet care.
