‘One-eyed wonder’ kitten in Ohio shelter is ready for his cuddly home era
A kitten in Ohio is proving that resilience — and a lot of love — are the keys to overcoming trauma.
Pancake, a little bit of a thing at 3 pounds, is on the hunt for a home to spend the rest of his days being pampered, e specially since he spent his first months of life fighting to stay alive.
“Say hello to Pancake, a 5-month-old kitten with the sweetest heart and the biggest purrs!” the Licking County Humane Society in Heath said in an Oct. 16 Facebook post.
“Pancake came to us through a recent humane agent case and has already shown incredible resilience. He had a serious injury to one of his eyes, which had to be removed — but don’t worry, this little guy doesn’t let that slow him down one bit!”
That’s right — while he might be down an eye, Pancake doesn’t let it bother him. In fact, the shelter refers to him as a “one-eyed wonder” in the post.
Pancake’s likes include:
- Cuddles galore
- Toys (especially ones he can chase)
- Treats
- Soft places to sleep
But most of all, he’s looking for a family or person to call his own.
The comment section was filled with supportive people who own cats that are visually impaired, but are strong in will.
“Don’t let the one eye discourage you from adopting! My cat has no eyes and acts no different than my cats with eyes,” one user said before showing a photo of her orange cat showcasing an adorable blep.
“I have a little one eyed wonder as well. It doesn’t slow them down one bit,” another commented.
And one person appears to be eternally optimistic:
“Permanent wink.”
