‘Adorable head tilt’ was trademark of cute shelter cat. But it was something more
A cat in Illinois is on the mend after a shelter discovered that his signature trademark was a sign of a hidden health issue.
Meet Parson, a charming, loving cat who could probably hypnotize the most cold-hearted feline critic out there with his huge eyes and headbutts. And one of Parson’s heart-nabbing moves was this particular head tilt when he would look at someone.
Yes, the common puppy head tilt.
Unfortunately, the head tilt was the effect of something else.
“Parson arrived to PAWS with the most adorable head tilt, which we discovered was due to a ruptured eardrum and a middle ear infection,” the PAWS Chicago shelter said in an Oct. 11 Facebook post.
The shelter showcased Parson’s move with a video that would have anyone saying “aww.”
“He likes to look at life a little … sideways,” the shelter said in the video as Parson shifts his head as if someone had asked a question about quantum mechanics.
The video shows a happy, chatty cat who responds to head and chin scratches, makes biscuits and is keen on getting outsmarted by gravity.
Thankfully, his ear is healing.
“After a couple rounds of antibiotics, his infection has cleared and we’ve seen significant healing to his eardrum,” the shelter said. “We expect things to just keep improving over time! He doesn’t head tilt quite as much anymore, but he still likes to look at you from 45 degrees from time to time.”
It’s very clear that Parson is more than his popular inquisitive expression — he’s just a furry love bug.
“But more than that, Parson is the most affectionate, snuggly cat. He’ll start purring if you even look his way and he won’t stop until he’s fallen asleep on your chest. If you’re looking for a cat who will be your biggest fan - that’s Parson,” the shelter said.
