Almost two years without a home as 6,000 cats have come and gone.

One cat has watched them all find homes ahead of her, and a shelter in Michigan wants to know why.

Meet Remmy, a senior cat who would like nothing more than to finally find a family and a scratching post that belongs only to her, the Humane Society of Huron Valley in Ann Arbor says.

“If you have followed our page since January of 2024, you have almost certainly see a few posts about a certain someone. Her name is Remmy and she has spent nearly 2 years in HSHV’s care. In those 2 years, over 6000 cats have been adopted,” the shelter said in an Oct. 1 Facebook post. “Remmy is 8 years old and she was surrendered to HSHV due to a medical condition that caused her to struggle with using her litterbox. She is now on a prescription diet and is doing fantastic, especially in a home with no animals.”

The sweet gal is everything a cat lover could possibly dream of: calm, a chatterbox, a napper, curious.

“We have learned everything we possibly could about Remmy. She loves to watch the critters from her cat tree and from windows, eat crunchy treats, greet her family at the door when she hears them coming, and running around in cat tunnels,” the shelter said. “Remmy isn’t the most snuggly lap cat, but she does love people and adjusts well to strangers when people are patient and calm with her.”

She needs to be active and play, her pet profile says. Need a supervisor to monitor you while you work from home? She’s your girl.

Remmy’s profile includes testimonials from children who are lending a hand to help the girl find that special someone.

“I’d like my own space. I don’t like being pet too much. I’m looking for a home without kids and I would LOVE lots of litter boxes. I’m a calm sort of girl and I’m looking forward to adoption,” one second grader said in Remmy’s voice.

“Hi, my name is Remmy. I am a cute striped cat. I am a meowlous cat! I am a pretty cat. I purr when I am happy and I like to rub your legs,” another student said.
