Hospital employee stabs co-worker, then runs into woods with knife, Ohio cops say
Police in Ohio are investigating after they say a hospital employee stabbed her co-worker, then took off into nearby woods.
Columbus police were called to Mount Carmel East hospital Sept. 30 about the stabbing, according to WCMH.
A female cafe employee stabbed a male co-worker, leaving him with injuries to his neck, chest, back and shoulder, police told WSYX.
The male employee was initially reported to be in critical condition but has since upgraded to stable, the Columbus Dispatch reported.
The woman took off and was found hiding in nearby woods holding a knife, police told WCMH.
She was taken back to the hospital and treated after officials found what they believed to be self-inflicted injuries, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
McClatchy News reached out to Mount Carmel Health for comment but did not immediately hear back.
“We are aware of an incident involving two colleagues at Mount Carmel East. No patients were involved. The safety of our patients, visitors and colleagues is our topmost priority, and we are investigating the matter. The situation has been contained, and Mount Carmel East is open and serving patients,” the hospital said in a statement to WSYX.
It’s unclear what led to the stabbing, but police told WBNS they don’t believe there was a domestic relationship between the colleagues.
