The host of an Airbnb in Texas said a bridal party kicked out of a property on the bride’s wedding day had violated multiple policies.

The response from Reina Tarte, who owns the property in Spring, comes after a viral TikTok video that has garnered nearly 10 million views within several days of its posting.

In the video, shared by the TikTok user @tieranib_, the bridal party is seen leaving the property as they were in the process of doing hair and makeup before that day’s wedding. (The linked video contains explicit language.)

“Getting put out of an Airbnb on your wedding day is INSANEEEEEE! The limit is 6 people. & for a short period of time we got up to 7 & the owner who lives right across the street told us we had 30 minutes to leave or she was calling for the sheriffs office,” the TikTok user said.

@tieranib_ Here’s a quick story time & update of us being thrown out of the Airbnb ! Watch full video for full details. I would also like to add I do not promote or condone bullying at all! I do appreciate how y’all are riding for us! This host definitely was WRONG! We were communicating & willing to abide by the rules it was a simple miscommunication on time. She chose to weaponize the police & throw us out! The police did not arrive but she did in fact state she would call! #fyp #wedding #airbnbhost ♬ Reverse (rewind) (reverse playback)(1134471) - Roadroller Sound Studio

In her response to the viral video, Tarte said she had been “harassed nonstop” after its posting. She said when a man and woman booked the home for Sept. 12, they only booked it for two people and never said there would be more than that.

But on the Sept. 13 wedding day, the bridge messaged Tarte on the Airbnb app, telling her there would be more than six people in the home and more cars at the property than what was allowed because they were preparing for a wedding.

Because the wedding venue was not open until noon, the bridal party needed a place to get ready in the early-morning hours of the wedding day. Tarte said she was unaware her property was booked for the wedding party.

“Again only 6 people allowed to be on the property, only 3 cars allowed to be on the property, no street parking and all ID need to be submitted for all guests prior to check in,” Tarte said in a message to the guest, she showed in her TikTok. “These policies were on the listing that (the guest) agreed to upon booking. You are violating numerous policies of ours. I will give you 30 minutes to vacate the property otherwise the sheriff will be notified to vacate you from the property. I confirmed with you yesterday that there is only two of you checking in when I sent the check-in info.”

@reinatarte For the past 2 days I have been harassed endlessly, so here is my side of the story #montgomeryairbnb #response #myside #fairjudgement ♬ original sound - Reina Tarte

The viral TikTok shows the bridal party leaving the home on their own accord. Tarte — as well as the woman who shared the video — said the sheriff was not called.

Tarte said there were six vehicles at the home. When she got in contact with the guest, she said it felt as if the guest was telling her she would be exceeding the maximum occupancy, not asking for permission.

“This is all about respect,” Tarte said. “If you are going to somebody’s property, you need to communicate.”

The woman who shared the initial TikTok said the whole situation “escalated quickly,” and she questioned why Tarte would “weaponize the police.”

She said the “host definitely was WRONG.”

Tarte said she got in contact with Airbnb, which canceled the group’s reservation because they “had all the proof that the guests are breaking a lot of rules, house rules.”

“As a host, we have rules,” Tarte said. “And on our listing it says if you violate these rules, then your reservation might be canceled.”

Airbnb confirmed to KRIV that the booking was made for just two guests and the host attempted to confirm only two guests would be staying at the property.

“Hosts on Airbnb set occupancy limits for their listings, typically for safety and liability reasons, and we ask guests to respect those rules,” Airbnb said in a statement to the outlet. “Even so, we appreciate this was a disappointing experience for the guest on an important day, and we have fully refunded them and provided a travel credit for future use.”

Spring is about a 25-mile drive north from Houston.
