Detroit Lions’ touchdown celebrations make kids’ dream come true during game
It’s always a dream come true when a child is able to make some long-lasting memories when watching their favorite sports teams in person — but two kids in Detroit managed to get their memory smack dab on the jumbotron at Ford Field.
And then it went viral.
During the Chicago Bears at Lions game, the Raznick family was sitting in the popular “Lions Leap Zone,” where players jump into the stands to celebrate with fans after scoring. It hadn’t happened yet for the Raznick kids — until wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown went for his third touchdown of the day.
That’s when he pointed at the cheering family.
“When he scored the touchdown, he pointed at us and I’m like ‘oh my God. Is this really happening?’” Aria Raznick, a 9-year-old who was at the game with her older brother Josh and their father, Jason, told WXYZ.
Video of the moment shows the Raznick family losing it and celebrating with St. Brown as he launched into the seats.
And then comes quarterback Jared Goff who, well, struggled.
“I wanted to get up there because I’ve seen it for years now. I wanted to get in the Lions Leap Zone and I’m like all right, this is my chance, and like... bad,” Goff said in the news conference following the game.
The fans (and St. Brown) lent him a few helping hands to get him up in the stands to celebrate, only for him to fall a bit.
The video was shared across social media by ESPN and other outlets.
The Lions ended up dismantling the Bears with five touchdowns in a blowout 52-21 win. Goff threw for 334 yards with St. Brown’s three touchdowns becoming a career high, ESPN reported.
