Teen watching illegal stunt show killed in 75-foot fall from on-ramp, CA cops say
A 16-year-old boy died after plunging 75 feet from an Interstate 80 on-ramp while watching a sideshow, or illegal street stunt show, California authorities reported.
Officers responded to reports of a sideshow involving more than 100 vehicles blocking an intersection at the on-ramp in Crockett at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, the California Highway Patrol said in a news release.
A 16-year-old spectator climbed over a concrete safety barrier on the elevated I-80 on-ramp nearby and accidentally fell to the street below, officers said.
The teen suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said.
An investigation into his death continues. Officers ask anyone with information to call 925-646-4980 or email 320Investigations@chp.ca.gov.
Crockett is about a 30-mile drive northeast from San Francisco.
