A man has been arrested after police say a woman and her 12-year-old son were found dead inside a Michigan home.

Around 4:15 p.m. Sept. 1, police were called to a home for reports of an unresponsive woman, according to a news release from the Hazel Park Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found a 41-year-old woman and 12-year-old boy dead, police said.

Police later identified the woman as Linda Hill and the boy as Kardi Jackson.

Police did not release the causes of death, but said the two died from “apparent trauma,” and are classifying it as a double homicide.

“By looking at the house and how everything was, they both fought... hard,” friend Shatara Harris told WWJ-TV.

Hazel Park School District released a statement saying the woman was the mother of the boy, who was a student there.

Hill’s 21-year-old son told WXYZ that his whole family is heartbroken.

“All around good person. She wasn’t bothering nobody for real, always fun, main thing she wanted to do was have fun,” Damontez Hill told the news outlet. “I don’t even know what would make a person do something like this. It’s messed up.”

Police arrested a 43-year-old man on Sept. 2 in connection with the deaths, according to a release.

“This unimaginable tragedy has left our family in shock and profound grief. Linda was loved by everyone who knew her; she would have given the shirt off her back to help others,” a GoFundMe page said.

“Kardi was the sweetest child, never bothered anyone, always enjoying his video games and spending time with family. Their loss is a devastating blow to all who knew them,” it read.

Police are investigating and have not released the name of the suspect or what charges he faces.

Hazel Park is about a 10-mile drive north from Detroit.
