Dream comes true for sweetheart shelter dog — after 933 days. See her celebrate
A sweet dog in Illinois who waited years for a home and a family to call her own finally got her wish, proving that patience really pays off.
The shelter gave her an epic send-off — one that included cake.
“933 days. Countless walks, cuddles, and hopeful meetings. And now … the best kind of goodbye,” PAWS Chicago said in an Aug. 10 Instagram video.
“We threw a celebration for our girl Tracy — because after 2.5 years at PAWS, she finally found her family. They came in to meet a few dogs, but Tracy made the choice for them. No hesitation. Just love.”
The video captured the highlights of Tracy getting love from 40 guests who attended the celebration at the shelter with The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun” playing over the joyful moments. Tracy’s caregivers and foster mom all gave her pats as the blue-eyed dog wagged her tail and moved down the line.
“Now she’s home, trailing her humans around the house, quiet as can be, fitting in like she’s always been there. And honestly? It feels like she has,” the shelter said.
