Petrified cat at Indiana shelter has finally ‘begun to bloom.’ See her new look
A very unsure and timid cat who once coward on the streets of Indiana alone is now comfortable enough in her own skin to start letting those around her in.
Meet Arista, a gorgeous calico girl with playful eyes and a soft demeanor, who was saved from attempting to survive alone on the streets.
“Arista came to us as a very scared stray found wandering a neighborhood near 126th Street and Towne Rd. After nobody came looking for her the shelter was too stressful and she needed a foster home,” the Humane Society for Hamilton County in Fishers said in an Aug. 7 Facebook post.
“When Arista first arrived in her foster home, she was unsure of the world around her. Fast movements and loud noises made her retreat to her safe space, and she wasn’t quite ready to trust. But even in then, she never lashed out, her instinct was always to quietly step away, not to fight.”
It didn’t take long for Arista to begin to adjust in a gentler setting with the help of a foster.
“With patience, gentle hands, and a calm environment, Arista has begun to bloom,” the shelter said.
Although she doesn’t care much for being held, she has a plethora of other loves she learned in her new safe space, including treats, the company of other cats, window gazing and playing with different toys.
“Arista is a one year old, calico, looking for a home where she can feel safe and take her time to open up. She would thrive with a gentle feline friend and could possibly do well with a dog after a proper introduction,” the shelter said.
“She may be a little shy at first, but the day she decides you’re “her person” will be worth every moment you spent earning her trust. And once she does, you’ll have a loyal companion for life.”
