Kitten entered shelter with leg ‘barely still attached.’ Now see her trot around
A tiny kitten is thriving in a foster environment after a horribly painful start in life slowed her down, an Illinois shelter says.

Meet Hydrangea, a little feline with a lot of spark and personality, even when she was suffering through a leg injury prior to being rescued by a good Samaritan and PAWS Chicago.
“After a concerned person came into our clinic looking for help for an injured kitten, our Community Outreach team went out to help,” the shelter said in a July 28 Instagram video.
“It was so much worse than expected. Her leg was barely still attached and the wound had maggots inside. Our team successfully grabbed her to rush back to our Medical Center for an emergency amputation surgery.”
The video shows a hyper kitten post-surgery, playing around in foster care while sporting a tiny cone. She even appears to be getting along with her foster sibling, who has taken her under her wing.
“Hydrangea is going to have the most fun-filled, full life ahead of her - want to be a part of it?”
