‘Brave’ shelter dog has ‘a heart as big as his comeback story.’ Find out why
Everyone loves a good comeback story, and a brave dog at an Ohio shelter proves it.
Meet Biffy, a sweet boy who, despite being, barely out of puppyhood, already has a painful history attached to his name.
Still, that doesn’t stop him from having one of the most enchanting smiles.
“Biffy is a brave and playful 1-year-old Black Mouth Cur with a heart as big as his comeback story,” the Jefferson County Humane Society in Wintersville said in an Aug. 2 Facebook post.
“He came to us after being hit by a car and suffered from a herniated disk, but thanks to his incredible spirit—and weeks of dedicated physical therapy and laser treatments—Biffy made an amazing recovery and is now thriving! He has regained his mobility and continues to be his sweet, resilient self.”
While enthusiastic as can be, he does have a quirk as a result of his history.
“Biffy has experienced spinal trauma in his past, which has caused a disconnect between his brain and his hind legs. As a result, he has a bit of a wobbly walk — but don’t be alarmed, it doesn’t cause him any pain, and he gets around just fine in his own unique way,” the shelter said.
“We want to be completely transparent about Biffy’s condition: while he’s happy, mobile, and full of life, it’s likely that his unsteady gait will be a lifelong trait. He may look a little different when he moves, but his heart works just like any other dog’s — it’s full of love, loyalty, and a desire to be part of a family.”
Biffy’s likes include:
- Other canine friends
- Toys galore
- Water (yes, that means baths)
- People
Cats really aren’t his thing, so it’s best if his new home doesn’t include them.
