Couple hiking with young daughters attacked and killed in Arkansas park, cops say
Police in Arkansas are searching for a suspect after they say a couple was attacked and killed while hiking with their daughters in a park.
Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, were hiking with their 7- and 9-year-old daughters at Devil’s Den State Park in West Fork on July 26, according to a news release from Arkansas State Police.
The couple, who recently moved to Prairie Grove from out of state, was attacked and killed by a man and their bodies were found on a walking trail, police said. The daughters were not injured and it’s unclear if they witnessed their parents get killed.
“We are heartbroken by today’s horrific news from Devil’s Den State Park and are in close contact with State Police and the Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism as they work to apprehend the suspect,” Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders wrote July 26 on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Police have a description of the suspect. They say he is a white male, medium build and was wearing a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark pants, a dark ballcap and sunglasses. He had a black backpack and was wearing fingerless gloves, according to authorities.
The man was seen driving toward an exit in a black, four-door sedan, and police say his vehicle may be a Mazda with a license plate covered by tape.
Authorities are asking anyone who visited the park that day to check their cellphone photos and videos for possible images of the suspect.
“The park is located in a remote and rural area, where the terrain is rugged, vegetation is thick and there is no cellphone service,” police said.
Investigators are asking anyone who lives near the park to also check security footage.
“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult time as they grieve and learn how to navigate this new reality. They ask that if anyone has any information at all that will help in the investigation to please contact the proper authorities immediately. Clinton and Kristen died (heroes) protecting their little girls and they deserve justice. They will forever live on in all of our hearts,” a statement released from the Brink and Osgood’s family said, ABC News reported.
