Powerball player wins $2 million prize. Where in US was the lucky ticket sold?
A Powerball player in Wisconsin won $2 million, just missing the $237 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched five winning numbers and the Power Play multiplier but not the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, July 12, the Wisconsin Lottery said.
A Powerball player in Texas won $1 million, lottery officials said.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $248 million, with a cash value of about $112.4 million, for the next drawing Monday, July 14, the national Powerball site said.
The winning numbers July 12 were 8, 16, 24, 33 and 54 with a Powerball of 18. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
More than 575,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won May 31, when a California player hit the $204.5 million grand prize.
What to know about Powerball
To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.
The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.
Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.
Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.
Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
