‘Private island’ lists for $200k in Illinois. Is it livable? Judge for yourself
An interesting real estate investment has landed on the market in the Prairie State.
A parcel of land that a Realtor listing is referring to as a “private island” is for sale in Antioch, Illinois, for $200,000.
“Own your private island on the Chain O’ Lakes!” the listing says.
“Ahoy, adventurers! Have you ever dreamed of owning your very own island? Here’s your once-in-a-lifetime chance to claim a rare gem on the legendary Chain O’ Lakes. This private island spans over 1 acre and sits proudly on Grass Lake, just a stone’s throw from the iconic Blarney’s Island - a local hotspot known for its vibrant bar, live entertainment, boat races, and more.“
If you’re into the whole “she’s a bit of a fixer-upper” then this property is right up your alley.
“The potential here is as vast as the surrounding waters - whether you’re looking to create a secluded retreat, a one-of-a-kind vacation rental, a camp, a duck hunting paradise, or an unforgettable family getaway.”
While the property does have electricity, the listing admits it’s unknown what condition it’s in.
Based on the photos, there do appear to be some structures on the land, with one that appears to be … floating?
Antioch is about a 55-mile drive north from Chicago.
