First responders made an “incredible rescue” by air when two hikers became trapped on cliffs as darkness approached, Utah troopers said.

The hikers were stranded in Maple Canyon, the Utah Highway Patrol said in a June 13 post on Instagram.

The rescue happened June 11, according to the video. The hikers’ ages weren’t provided.

One of the hikers “managed to find a small ledge, just enough space to hold on while waiting for help,” troopers said.

The other appeared to be on a wider ledge, video of the rescue shows.

“With no safe way down and night approaching,” a crew from the Utah Department of Public Safety’s Aero Bureau “brought them both to safety,” according to authorities.

Maple Canyon is a rock climbing and hiking area in Sanpete County in central Utah.
