7-year-old boy dies snorkeling with friends in pool, Ohio cops say. ‘Unimaginable’
A 7-year-old boy donned snorkeling gear and got into the deep end of the pool, but his mom noticed he didn’t resurface, Ohio deputies said.
The boy was pulled from the Morgan Township pool by his mother and flown to a hospital in Cincinnati where he died, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said in a June 11 news release.
He was identified as Ian Pequignot by the Hamilton County Coroner’s office.
Multiple adults, including the mother, were monitoring the group of children swimming when the boy drowned, deputies said.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy,” Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said in a statement.
The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the drowning.
Morgan Township is about a 30-mile drive northwest from Cincinnati.
