Man’s brutal sexual abuse of 8-year-old leaves boy HIV positive, Florida cops say

A man was arrested after being accused of giving an 8-year-old HIV after sexually abusing him, Florida officials said.

In August 2024, Pinellas County deputies got a report from a male who said he was sexually abused in St. Petersburg when he was 8 years old, according to a news release by the sheriff’s office.

Bobby McAffee, 62, of Clearwater is accused of pinning the boy down with both his arms above his head while he sexually abused him, deputies said.

On May 30, during a deputy interview, McAffee admitted to ”having sexual contact” with the boy and admitted to having tested positive for HIV, deputies said.

The boy also tested positive for HIV, officers said.

McAffee was arrested and charged with sexual battery of a child less than 12 years old, deputies said.

St. Petersburg is about a 20-mile drive southwest from downtown Tampa.
