Woman shot, then rescued after rejecting man’s demand for sex, Hawaii cops say
A woman discovered “visibly bleeding” along a scenic road in Hawaii had been shot after refusing a man’s demand for sex, police in Hawaii said.
The 23-year-old woman survived and was rescued May 21 by a passerby, who took her to a hospital, the Honolulu Police Department said in a Facebook post. The woman is in stable condition, police said.
She’d been with 54-year-old John Garside on the island of Oahu when he demanded sex, according to police.
She said no and he shot her, police said.
The woman fled “and hid along the mountainside until” the passerby saw her and helped, according to police.
Garside was arrested May 24 and faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, plus firearm offenses, police said.
McClatchy News couldn’t immediately find defense attorney information for Garside on May 27.
