Dog found inside abandoned truck, then owner reported missing, Colorado cops say
A 34-year-old man was reported missing after his dog was found alone in his truck and he didn’t show up for work, Colorado police said.
Paul Aragon’s mother said she last heard from him April 28 or 29, according to a Broomfield Police Department news release shared May 20 to Facebook.
Aragon, from the Aurora area, lives in his truck and was believed to be working in Littleton or Lakewood, police said.
His truck was found in Broomfield, about a 25-mile drive northwest from Aurora, according to police.
Officers spotted it twice — both times with the dog inside — before Aragon was reported missing, police said.
An officer on patrol saw the truck early May 2 in an area of construction, according to police.
It was running and the pup was inside, police said, adding that officers searched the area “but found nothing suspicious.”
They also called Aragon, but he didn’t pick up, according to police.
Another officer checked on the truck a little after midnight May 3 and found the dog still inside, police said.
“Concerned about the dog’s welfare, the animal was removed and taken to a local shelter,” police said, adding that officers again searched the area.
Aragon’s mother was notified his dog was found, police said.
His mom later reported him missing, noting he hadn’t shown for work May 5, according to police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Broomfield Police Department.
