Three teenagers and a 12-year-old have been arrested in connection with a robbery that left an Ohio man dead, police said.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at about 4 a.m. April 28 in a residential area of eastern Columbus, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, police said in a May 7 news release.

The man, identified as 34-year-old Jamal Jones, was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to police.

Police said the shooting happened during a robbery of Jones and a 36-year-old man. Days later, on May 2, investigators interviewed four people in connection with the robbery and shooting, police said.

Two suspects a 15-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy — were arrested and charged while the two other suspects interviewed — a 17-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl — were released, according to police. But warrants were filed for the girls on May 5 and they were arrested May 6, officers said.

McClatchy News is not naming the suspects because they are minors.

The boys were charged with murder, but police did not specify in the release what charges the girls face.

Lashawna Williams, Jones’ sister, told WCMH the loss of her brother has been hard on her family.

“He was a beautiful person inside and out, and I just want the world to know who he is, who he was, who he still is to us,” she told the outlet.
