Driver flips $400,000 Lamborghini on winding California highway, photos show
A driver crashed and rolled a Lamborghini worth about $400,000 on a scenic California highway, officers said.
The crash happened at about 12:15 p.m. Sunday, May 4, on Highway 9, a spokesperson for California Highway Patrol Santa Cruz told McClatchy News by phone.
Highway 9 is a scenic and mountainous route that is winding with sharp curves.
The driver crashed their 2023 Lamborghini Huracan STO as the roadway was straightening out, the spokesperson said, and the luxury vehicle flipped.
Officers said they believe speed was a factor in the crash.
Two people were in the vehicle, and they had minor injuries, officers said.
Highway patrol officers used their vehicle to push the car out of the roadway.
No citations or arrests have been made as the investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
“This crash was preventable. PLEASE SLOW DOWN! Hwy 9 is not a racetrack,” officers said in a Facebook post.
A 2023 Lamborghini Huracan STO is estimated to cost more than $410,000, according to Edmunds, an online car shopping guide.
Hundreds of comments were left after authorities shared photos of the crash on social media.
“Rolling a car that’s literally as tall as your hip is actually kind of impressive,” one person commented on Facebook.
“He turned his Batmobile into a flatmobile,” another person wrote.
