Mom runs into the woods and is not seen for 9 years, MN cops say. Body now found

A mother who vanished after running away from her boyfriend has been found dead nearly nine years later, Minnesota authorities say.

Shannah Boiteau had last been seen June 22, 2016, running “from a vehicle being driven by her boyfriend,” according to the St. Cloud Police Department.

Originally from Wisconsin, Boiteau fled across state lines because she had a warrant for her arrest due to a probation violation, police said.

But as she ran into the St. Cloud woods, she went missing without a trace, according to KNSI.

At Boiteau’s Chippewa Falls home, loved ones found a note taped to her kitchen cabinet, Dateline reported.

“It said basically that she thought she would be going to jail for breaking the terms of her parole and there were a few things she needed to take care of before that happened,” her father, Bud Boiteau, told Dateline. “She wrote she loved her daughter and just had to finish some things. We were so mad she took off.”

Five years after her daughter’s disappearance, Angela Starck told WQOW it was like she “vanished into thin air.”

The family recently received closure after a man found the remains of Boiteau on his property, police said, noting that the April 26 discovery was made near where she was last seen nine years prior.

“It is with great sorrow and sadness that we have to report that we have found Shannah Boiteau and she has gained her angel wings,” loved ones said on a Facebook group.

Boiteau’s cause of death has not been confirmed.

St. Cloud is about a 160-mile drive northwest from Chippewa Falls.
