With spring here, many adventurists are hitting up their local lakes and rivers for water activities.

Others, like Blane Waggoner, only need their nearest flooded interstate.

First seen in traffic cameras on Interstate 57 in Jacksonville, Arkansas, Waggoner has gone viral on social media for wakeboarding on the flooded roadway.

“Surfs up!” he commented on a post from Arkansas weather blogger Paul the WXguru, who shared an image from the Arkansas Department of Transportation that featured Waggoner.

The weather blogger called it “the most Arkansas Redneck thing ever.”

Waggoner shared videos on Facebook of him catching waves on the interstate and weaving in and out of obstacles.

“When it floods in Arkansas ... surfs up in Jacksonville!” he said in his post, with one video having been viewed more than 1 million times as of April 7.

If anyone were to wakeboard on the interstate, Waggoner is the likely culprit. He teaches surfing and wakeboarding in the summers, THV11 reported.

“Only in Arkansas,” a commenter said in Waggoner’s post.

The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management said multiple roadways flooded because of the region’s severe weather. Travelers were encouraged “to bypass areas of concern.”

Jacksonville Mayor Jeff Elmore also urged residents to stay off roadways “unless absolutely necessary.”

“While we understand wanting to get out and assess the damage, your life matters much more,” the City of Jacksonville said in a Facebook post April 6.

Jacksonville is about a 15-mile drive northeast from Little Rock.
