Watch orphaned mountain lion cub with ‘spicy’ personality recover at WA park
An orphaned mountain lion cub is recovering at a wildlife park in Washington after he was found emaciated and dehydrated, officials said.
Despite the condition he was found in, the cub is full of “spicy” personality, photos and videos show.
With a belly full of blood water — like pedialyte for the growing predator — the cub practiced his fearsome growls and hisses as caretakers carefully fed him meat paste while wearing thick gloves to protect from any swipes or bites, videos shared to Instagram by Northwest Trek Wildlife Park show.
“Orphaned cougar cub finds forever, loving home,” the park said in the caption on the post.
The park houses “over 100 animals native to the Pacific Northwest” on 725 acres in Eatonville and is dedicated to conservation and providing expert wildlife care to rescued animals. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife rescued the cub after he was found starving without his mother in the wild, the organization said in the April 2 post.
“With round-the-clock veterinary attention, he’s making steady progress,” the organization said. “Though still behind the scenes, his recovery is a testament to the dedicated team giving him a second chance at life.”
People in the comments couldn’t get over how cute the fierce little guy is.
“He is zesty,” someone said. “You go, you spicy little dude!”
Some pointed out the little cub’s massive paws.
“He’s cute and looks like he would tear your throat out,” someone else said.
Eatonville is about a 35-mile drive southeast from Tacoma.
