Angry customer accused of killing phone repair shop worker is gunned down, TX cops say
Two people are dead after Texas police say an angry customer opened fire inside a phone repair shop and a worker fired back, news outlets report.
The shooting happened at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at a uBreakiFix location on San Antonio’s northwest side, KENS reported.
A customer who police say was upset about the service they received at the store got into a verbal argument with an employee, which escalated and became physical, and the customer pulled out a gun and shot the employee, police told the station.
Then an armed co-worker shot the customer, police public information officer Nicholas Soliz said during a news briefing shared by KSAT.
Both the customer and the employee he was fighting with were dead when officers arrived, Soliz said.
The employee’s name was Cody Bell, 35, an aspiring musician and “one of the best friends you could ever ask for,” friend Intre Flores told KSAT.
“To hear that he died over something so petty or minuscule is just utterly insulting,” he told the station. “I hope that person burns in hell.”
The co-worker who authorities say killed the customer told police they acted in self defense, WOAI reported. No charges had been filed as of Tuesday.
