A tow truck driver got underneath a car being repossessed to hook it up to his truck, then a man ran over the tow truck driver’s head, Tennessee police said.

The incident was captured on video by the tow truck driver and shared on Facebook.

The morning of March 26, the tow truck driver went to an apartment complex to repossess a red Ford Focus because the person who sold it to the current owner said the owner no longer was making payments, according to the Memphis Police Department.

The video shows the tow truck driver blocking the car into a parking spot and having a brief conversation with a woman off camera who could be heard insisting she pays her bills. The truck driver started lowering the bed of the tow truck, then he grabbed chains from the bed and pulled them down to the car to attach them as another man ran over to the driver’s side of the Focus and got in, the video shows.

The tow truck driver got under the car just behind the front tire with the chains, then the man in the car put the vehicle in reverse, running over his head and arm, the video shows.

The tow truck driver writhed on the ground yelling as the man in the car tried several times to drive out of the blocked spot. The woman directed him, the video shows, and eventually he succeeded.

Those providing aid had to shake the driver in order to keep him awake, and he was hospitalized in non-critical condition, according to officers.

Police described it as an aggravated assault and didn’t identify the suspects.
