A woman listened to the “little voice” in her head and won a “shocking” lottery jackpot, Michigan officials say.

Alexandra Wilk, of Macomb County, told Michigan Lottery officials she purchased a $1,000,000 Instant Jackpot scratch-off ticket at a 7-Eleven because “something that day kept telling me to buy a ticket.”

“I just felt like I needed to listen to that little voice I’d been hearing all day,” she said in a March 26 news release.

The instant game costs $10 to play and offers three top prizes of $1 million. There are also 47 prizes of $2,500.

When she scratched off the ticket in her car, she realized she won one of the jackpot prizes. But it took some convincing.

“At first, I thought they had given me a prank ticket because what I was seeing – a $1 million winner – was so shocking,” Wilk told lottery officials. “Once I settled down, I called my mom to tell her, and she broke down in tears.”

With her winnings, Wilk plans to purchase a new home and car. She also plans to save money for her and her daughter.

“This money is life-changing for me and my daughter,” the 25-year-old said. “My future just got so much brighter.”

Macomb County is about a 35-mile drive northeast from Detroit.
