A family has been missing for a week after vanishing during a trip from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas, deputies said.

GPS information from their rental car shows they were heading west on Interstate 40 at 3:27 p.m. March 13, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

The missing family members include a mother, daughter and aunt: Jiyeon Lee, 33,; Taehee Kim, 59; and Junghee Kim, 54. The women are from South Korea.

Their last known location was near Williams, Arizona, near Devil Dog Road, a spokesperson for the agency told McClatchy News by email March 20.

Williams is about a 35-mile drive west from Flagstaff.

A “large multi-vehicle accident” happened that same day, so authorities said they are investigating if the family tried to drive around it and got stuck in a wooded area near the highway.

Deputies said they checked hospitals in the area and are in communication with troopers who were in charge of the highway accident last week.

But they haven’t found the family and will search for them “until all leads are exhausted.”

The women were in a 2024 BMW with a California license plate 9KHN768, deputies said.

A winter storm brought whiteout conditions, heavy snow and icy roads to northern Arizona area the same day the family was leaving the area, according to the National Weather Service.

The national park reported road closures and said travel conditions were hazardous.
