A dead man was found by officers on top of a woman who is accused of killing him, Michigan authorities say.

Officers made the grim discovery after arriving to a home in South Lyon on Sunday, March 9, for a call “about a possible death,” according to a March 11 news release from the Green Oak Charter Township Police Department.

“Officers from the Green Oak Township Police Department arrived on scene finding a woman in her bed with an obviously deceased male on top of her,” police said. “After the initial investigation it was determined this was a homicide.”

It’s believed the woman killed the man, who police said was her long-term partner, by striking him “with blunt force in the head” and stabbing him “in the chest and neck,” according to investigators.

Police did not publicly disclose the names or ages of the man and woman. They lived in the home with their son, who police said was unharmed.

The woman was taken to a hospital for evaluation and later placed in the Livingston County Jail, police said. Charges have not been announced.

South Lyon is about a 40-mile drive northwest from Detroit.
