Man found crushed under SUV at Florida home. He had been trying to fix it, cops say
Two people returning to a Florida home made a grisly discovery when an SUV was found sitting atop a dead man, according to investigators.
It happened just after 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, in a residential neighborhood along Sanborn Lane in Deltona, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said in a March 8 news release.
“Deputies responded to the call at a residence ... after two people returned to the house and found the subject unresponsive under the vehicle,” the sheriff’s office said.
“Deltona Fire Rescue also responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased.”
An investigation revealed the 40-year-old man had been working under the SUV when it “rolled off its ramps and onto him.”
There is no hint of “foul play,” leading detectives to conclude the man’s death was the result of “a tragic accident,” the sheriff’s office said.
His identity has not been released.
An SUV can “weigh anywhere from around 3,500 pounds to over 6,000 pounds,” according to Autolist.com.
Deltona is about a 30-mile drive north from Orlando.
