An argument about money turned violent when a man pulled out a gun and shot his father in the back, Texas police say.

The two were in separate cars in a Houston parking lot March 5, police told KHOU. The son was in a car with an acquaintance while the father was in a truck, according to police and KPRC.

The father told police that his son was the one that shot him., officials said. Police did not identify the son.

The son fled the scene, according to police, and the father, who is in his 50s, started to drive away as well.

The father drove onto the freeway and crashed into a grassy area on the side of the road, police said. Officers found him with a gunshot wound in his car, and he was taken to a hospital in the area, police said.

Police are still looking for the accused shooter.
