Lottery player’s ‘legs got to wobbling’ when she realized she won 2nd top Iowa prize
An Iowa woman and the cashier who sold her her lottery ticket were equally stunned when she won the top prize.
Ramona Clark, 70, purchased the winning 9s in a Line ticket at a Kum & Go in Lamoni, about an 80-mile drive south from Des Moines. Clark scratched off the ticket on the spot, revealing a top prize of $50,000, according to a Feb. 21 news release from the Iowa Lottery. There are seven top prizes total.
“My legs got to wobbling,” Clark said at the Iowa Lottery headquarters as she claimed her prize. “You’re just, like, in shock, or I was. I think I still am.”
When she handed her ticket to the store worker, who scanned her ticket and confirmed her win, he was just as shocked as she was.
“He said, ‘I can’t believe I sold you this winning ticket!’” Clark said in the release. “I said, ‘I can’t believe I bought the winning ticket!’”
Clark said she plans to use the money to buy a new car, fill her propane tank, pay property taxes and share the winnings with her family.
