Cellphone repairman secretly downloads nudes from customers’ phones, Ohio officials say
An Ohio cellphone repairman has pleaded guilty to secretly downloading nude photos off customers’ phones, officials said.
Calvin Jordan, 27, of Gallipolis pleaded guilty Feb. 20 to 40 felony counts in connection with the months-long illegal activity, according to a news release from Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost.
Investigators said Jordan downloaded “private photos” from more than 40 customers, including men, women and minors as young as 14, officials said in the release.
Jordan downloaded these “nude and intimate photographs” without customers’ knowledge between December 2021 and April 2022, officials said in a June news release announcing the indictment.
“Violating your customers’ privacy isn’t just creepy – it’s illegal, especially when some of your clients are minors,” Yost said.
The Gallia County man was charged with three counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, one count of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and 36 counts of unauthorized use of computer, cable or telecommunications property, Yost said in the release.
Jordan is scheduled to be sentenced March 31 and will be required to register as a sex offender, officials said.
Gallipolis is about a 110-mile drive southeast from Columbus.
