A Pennsylvania optician accused of propositioning customers for sex as payment for eye services now faces over a dozen charges, police and news outlets report.

Brian Steiner, 40, worked at Philly Vision Care in Folcroft, WPVI reported.

According to police, Steiner admitted to carrying out sexual acts with customers on at least 30 separate occasions inside the store, the outlet reported. In those instances, Steiner offered a reward for customers if they complied and had sex with him: free glasses and waived fees, police said.

While the exact number of victims isn’t known, Steiner told police there could be at least 15 men and women, the Delaware County Times reported. It’s unclear how many of those customers actually agreed to Steiner’s offer, or were assaulted regardless.

One woman told police Steiner was being flirtatious with her during a visit, then locked the store’s entrance, took her into an exam room, stripped out of his clothes and told her to perform oral sex on him — all while making it clear she had no choice, the newspaper reported.

A customer reported Steiner to the store owner, who notified police, the outlet said. The owner discovered that an estimated $3,500 in merchandise was unaccounted for, according to the outlet.

Court records filed on Feb. 11 show the investigation into Steiner began in June 2023.

Steiner is facing charges including sexual assault, threat of rape and threat of forcible compulsion, as well as multiple counts of prostitution, harassment, stalking and theft, records show. His bail was set at $250,000.

Folcroft is a roughly 10-mile drive southwest from downtown Philadelphia.
