Woman finds ex at stoplight and shoots female passenger in the head, Florida cops say
A woman pulled up on her ex-boyfriend at a stoplight, then saw another woman in the car and shot her in the head, Florida authorities said.
The ex-boyfriend told police he broke up with 38-year-old Latorray Collins only days before the shooting, according to an arrest affidavit from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
He said Collins had been calling and texting him about getting his belongings from her home, but he told her to throw his things away, police said.
He made plans to go out with the victim, as well as some of her family members, and they all met up at a liquor store Feb. 15 before setting off in different cars to a restaurant, according to police.
The ex-boyfriend was driving the woman’s car when Collins started calling him again, police said. He ignored the calls, but when he stopped at a red light, Collins appeared in her own car and pulled up in front of them, blocking the car, according to police.
He said he reversed and drove around her, but she kept following until he hit another stoplight, police said. The other members of the party were in another car at that stoplight, according to police.
The man said Collins got out of her car and started knocking on their windows, then they all began arguing as he told her to leave, police said.
Then the victim asked Collins who she was, and the man said he was worried the argument was about to get physical as the passengers in the other car got out, according to police. Then the man said there was a “loud noise” and the female passenger fell to the ground, police said.
Officers reported finding a .380 caliber shell near the woman.
Other witnesses told police a similar story, and Collins was arrested on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
