Man accused of threatening Elon Musk on X had AR-15 rifle at home, Indiana cops say
A man accused of making “life-threatening” statements on social media about billionaire businessman Elon Musk was arrested at his southern Indiana home, police says
Authorities in Texas contacted Indiana State Police on Tuesday, Feb. 18, about the X handle of 28-year-old David Allen June Cherry, according to a news release.
Cherry is alleged to have posted threats toward Musk on X, formerly Twitter, the social media platform owned by Musk, a key ally of President Donald Trump who serves as his senior advisor.
Specifics of the threats were not disclosed, but authorities said they involved threats toward the billionaire’s life.
State police initiated its own investigation and arrested Cherry without incident in Clarksville, troopers said.
In their execution of a search warrant at Cherry’s Palmyra home, troopers confiscated “an AR-15 style rifle, a handgun, ammunition and a ballistic vest,” according to the news release.
State police said Cherry was charged with felony intimidation and is jailed without bond in Harrison County.
