A man accused of choking his ex-girlfriend unconscious and kidnapping her from her apartment has been arrested, California police say.

While the woman was at a hospital, she told a Barstow police officer that her ex-boyfriend, Sheldon Davis, “forced his way into her apartment” Wednesday, Feb. 5, the department said in a Feb. 13 Facebook post.

The woman said the 33-year-old physically attacked her, pointed a gun at her, said he would kill her and choked her until she fell unconscious, according to police.

Upon regaining consciousness, police said the woman realized she was inside Davis’ car at a gas station and escaped.

Police said the woman’s injuries matched her account of what happened and that officers later found evidence at the apartment that further supported her statements.

Davis was arrested the following day without incident, according to police.

He was booked into jail on counts of burglary, attempted murder, kidnapping, criminal threats and domestic battery, police said.

During his Monday, Feb. 10 arraignment, Davis pleaded not guilty to all charges, according to court records obtained by the Victorville Daily Press.

Davis, who is being held on $1.3 million bail, is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 18, jail records show.

Barstow is about a 115-mile drive northeast from Los Angeles.
