A Wisconsin man told police he set fire to a strip club because he found them “disgusting,” according to police and reports from local news outlets.

Authorities were alerted Jan. 18 shortly before 5 a.m. that the strip club Shooters Showgirls in the Town of Elk Mound was on fire, according to a news release that day from the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office.

Eleven fire departments from surrounding regions responded to the blaze, which investigators determined was arson, according to the sheriff’s office.

Video evidence led investigators to Colton Wayne Jansen of Comstock, who “admitted to his involvement,” authorities said.

He told police he set the building on fire because strip clubs were “against his beliefs” and “disgusting,” WQOW reported, citing court records.

According to a criminal complaint, Jansen told investigators that he wasn’t a fan of “those clubs,” WEAU reported.

Jansen was captured on video using a torch to light a tissue box on fire and trying to break into the pull tab machine, ATM and stuffed animal claw machine, the outlet reported, citing the complaint.

Jansen was charged with arson, burglary, and possession of burglarious tools, according to online court records. McClatchy News reached out to Jansen’s attorney Jan. 24 for comment but did not immediately hear back.

He is due back in court Jan. 28.

Elk Mound is about a 190-mile drive northwest from Madison.
