Your next McDonald’s Happy Meal could come with a side of — Pokémon cards?

The new Dragon-type Pokémon Happy Meal landed on menus Tuesday, Jan. 21, at participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, according to the fast-food giant.

Each meal box comes with a Pokémon trading card game booster pack featuring four of 15 collectible trading cards, McDonald’s said in a news release. It also includes a Pokémon poster and a sticker sheet for decorating.

Pricing information wasn’t immediately available.

“Much like they do for McDonald’s, our fans have deep nostalgia and love for the Pokémon brand,” Guillaume Huin, senior marketing director at McDonald’s, said in the release.

“We’re thrilled to build on those great memories and create a new moment of fun and happiness with the new Pokémon Happy Meal,” he said.

The Happy Meals come in one of four box designs featuring Charizard, Pikachu & Dragonite, Rayquaza and Roaring Moon, McDonald’s said.

It’s not the first time the fast-food giant has offered a Pokemon-themed meal box.

In 2021, McDonald’s teamed up with the anime media franchise to include packs of special edition Pokémon trading cards in its Happy Meals, McClatchy News reported. The promotion also coincided with Pokémon’s 25th anniversary.

The result? Frenzied Pokémon fans rushing to their nearest McDonald’s in search of the coveted trading cards. The craze led to some people “hoarding” the meal boxes — but trashing the food inside.

The new Pokémon Happy Meals are available for a limited time, though McDonald’s didn’t say for how long.
