A 6-year-old boy was struck and killed by an accused drunk driver while on a bike ride in a Florida neighborhood, officials said.

Florida Highway Patrol told WESH the child was riding a bike in an Apopka mobile home park at about 5 p.m. Jan. 18 when the driver of a 2003 Chevy Suburban drove past a stop sign and hit him.

The boy was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, WKMG reported.

Officials identified the driver as 53-year-old Francisco Arriola, WOFL reported.

He was charged with “DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, DUI 3rd violation, operating a vehicle without a license causing death and running a stop sign,” the outlet said.

Arriola had previously been arrested on similar charges, the news outlets reported. The investigation is ongoing.

Apopka is about a 20-mile drive northwest from Orlando.
