Man dies after walking into restaurant with stab wounds to chest, Texas cops say
A man bleeding from his chest walked into a restaurant for help after he was stabbed in front of his wife, Texas police and news outlets reported.
The couple was walking to a bus stop when the 52-year-old husband was stabbed by a man identified as 61-year-old Carl Mott, according to KENS and San Antonio police.
The injured man then walked into Jim’s Restaurant around 7 a.m. on Dec. 14 to get help, police said.
McClatchy News reached out to Jim’s Restaurants about the incident but did not immediately receive a response.
When officers arrived, the man would not tell police what led to the stabbing, San Antonio police said. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died, according to police and KSAT.
His wife told officers that Mott had assaulted him before and that the two had a brief exchange before the stabbing, according to an affidavit obtained by KENS.
The medical examiner’s office identified the man as Michael Duran Bowman, KSAT reported. He died hours after the stabbing, according to death records.
Mott was identified through security footage and arrested on a murder charge, according to KSAT and court records. His bond was set at $150,000.
His attorney information was not listed.
