Man drives hundreds of miles to recruit undercover cop into prostitution, CA police say
A man accused of driving hundreds of miles to try to recruit an undercover officer into prostitution was arrested in California, police say.
Lawrence Henderson, 35, was charged with a number of counts on Dec. 13, the Anaheim Police Department said in a Dec. 16 news release.
An undercover officer spoke with the Stockton man on social media in November and December, police said.
During those conversations, Henderson is accused of trying to recruit the undercover officer, “who was posing as a woman,” to work as a prostitute for him, police said.
After the undercover cop agreed to meet with him, Henderson drove from the San Francisco Bay area to Orange County, police said.
When Henderson arrived, however, he was met by Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force investigators and arrested, police said.
At the time of his arrest, Henderson was carrying a loaded firearm, “equipped with a high-capacity magazine,” and also had a 50-round drum magazine in his car, according to police.
Two days after his arrest, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office charged Henderson with pandering, attempted pimping, possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of ammo by a prohibited person, possession of a high-cap magazine and resist/obstruct a police officer, according to police.
Henderson is being held on $500,000 bail, police said.
