Daughter helps mom forcibly kidnap siblings from trampoline park, Georgia police say
A trip to a trampoline park turned violent when a mother and her daughter attacked a Division of Family and Children Services employee and kidnapped two children, Georgia police said.
Teisha Schulters, 19, is accused of helping her mom, Starlita Moore, 41, snatch her siblings during a court-ordered visitation in Lawrenceville, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.
Officers were called Nov. 8 about a kidnapping at the Altitude Trampoline Park.
The DFCS employee told police she was there for a supervised visit with Moore and her two children.
During the visit, Moore is accused of punching the DFCS worker in the face and grabbing her kids. She continued attacking the employee while Schulters put the kids in a Chrysler 300 parked outside, police said.
Both women left soon after with the children in tow, according to the release.
Police immediately contacted neighboring agencies to help search for Moore and Schulters.
Troopers with the Alabama State Patrol stopped their car and arrested the mother-daughter duo, police said. Authorities said Moore’s other children weren’t hurt.
Moore faces several charges including two counts of kidnapping, interstate interference with custody, battery and child cruelty, the department said. She remained in jail on a $6,500 bond as of Nov. 14, online records show.
Schulters was also charged with two counts of kidnapping and a count of interstate interference with custody, and remains in jail, according to the release.
Moore’s children remain in the care of DFCS officials, police said.
Lawrenceville is about a 30-mile drive northeast from downtown Atlanta.
