An 11-year-old girl fought off an attempted kidnapper while walking to school, Colorado officials said.

On Oct. 28, the girl was walking to school in Boulder when a man she didn’t know started following her on a bicycle, according to a Facebook post by police.

As she was walking, the man grabbed her by the shoulder, officials said.

That’s when the girl used a tree branch to hit the man, causing him to let her go, police said.

The child ran to school and later told her mom, who then called police, officials said.

The man was described as wearing all black with a mask and round sunglasses, officials said.

As of Nov. 4, he is still at large.

Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to contact Detective Taylor Hickam at HickamT@bouldercolorado.gov or call 303-441-1936 and reference case 24-11453, police said.

Boulder is about a 30-mile drive northwest of Denver.
