Deer getting heads stuck in plastic pumpkins, photos show. Here’s how to prevent it
Police in Ohio are warning people of the dangers of Halloween decorations after deer were spotted with pumpkins stuck on their heads.
Westlake police posted on its Facebook page Oct. 28 after receiving several calls reporting deer with plastic pumpkins on their heads.
Officers tried to get close to the deer to remove the pumpkins.
“The deer of course want nothing to do with officers approaching them,” the post said.
Police are encouraging people to check their yards for any hazards and to remove the handle on plastic pumpkins, which “tends to wrap around the deer’s head causing the issue.”
Westlake is a suburb of Cleveland.
